Brian J. Peretti is the Chief Executive Officer of Everstream Advisors, LLC, a full-service risk management and advisory firm specializing in helping clients identify, govern, and mitigate risks associated with emerging technologies—including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Biometrics, and Quantum Computing—as well as navigating complex government and regulatory environments. A seasoned strategic leader with more than 30 years of experience across financial services policy, cybersecurity, operational resilience, and critical infrastructure protection, Brian is widely recognized for shaping public-private partnerships, advancing technology governance, and driving enterprise-level risk management strategies. He retired from federal service as a member of the Senior Executive Service and a trusted advisor to Treasury Secretaries, White House officials, and international bodies.
Brian concluded his distinguished 22-year tenure at the U.S. Department of the Treasury as the Department’s Chief Technology Officer and Deputy Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer. He also served as Executive Director of Treasury’s Artificial Intelligence Board. In these roles, he established a comprehensive multi-year strategic planning framework that aligned Treasury’s IT modernization roadmap with the CIO’s long-term vision. He championed enterprise technology solutions to enhance mission delivery, led policy development for emerging technologies, and oversaw publication of Managing Artificial Intelligence-Specific Cybersecurity Risks in the Financial Services Sector, directing subsequent implementation efforts across the Department.
Throughout his career, Brian has been recognized for leadership excellence and innovation, earning numerous honors including the Albert Gallatin Award—Treasury’s highest career service distinction—and the 12th Annual Billington CyberSecurity Leadership Award. A sought-after speaker on AI governance, cybersecurity, and critical infrastructure resilience, he has engaged audiences across government, industry, and international forums.
Before joining Treasury, Brian was an associate in Shook, Hardy & Bacon’s Corporate Banking and Finance Section in Washington, D.C. He also served as General Counsel of the Wright Patman Congressional Federal Credit Union. He is also the author of several publications on financial-sector operations and payment systems.
Brian graduated cum laude from Rider University in 1989 and earned his J.D. cum laude from American University’s Washington College of Law in 1992.
